Legend dictates that Goddess Sati's center of eyebrows (Bhroo Madhya) fell at this location. It is also associated with Sage Ashtavakra, whose eight physical curves were healed here after worshipping Lord Shiva. The temple grounds feature famous natural geothermal hot springs believed to possess medicinal and spiritual purifying properties.
