Theological significance
According to legend, Goddess Sati's right foot fell here. Built in 1501 AD by King Dhanya Manikya, the temple stands on a hillock shaped like a tortoise (Kurma), making it a rare Kurma Pitha favored for Sri Vidya and Tantric Sadhana. It is widely considered the spiritual heart of Tripura state.
