I GLORIFY that Ram who finds the light of heaven, whose hundred nobly-natured ones go forth with him. With hymns may I turn hither Indra to mine aid,—the Car which like a strong steed hasteth to the call.
I glorify that ram who finds heaven's light, whose hundred noble ones go with him; with hymns may I turn Indra here for help—the car that like a strong steed hastens to the call.
Indra 'svarvid' with śataṁ subhvaḥ—companions of luminous nature. Stotra as 'vavṛtyām'—turning the divine ratha toward avas, swift as vāja-steed to havan.
Use focused praise and clear calls to redirect capable energy toward real need—attention steers power.

Like as a mountain on firm basis, unremoved, he, thousandfold protector, waxed in mighty strength, When Indra, joying in the draughts of Soma juice, forced the clouds, slaying Vṛtra stayer of their flow.
Like a mountain unmoved on firm bases, thousandfold protector, he waxed in strength when Indra, joying in Soma, forced the floods, slaying Vṛtra who stopped their flow.
'Parvato na dharuṇeṣv acyutaḥ'—Indra's stability; 'sahasramūti' expands at Vṛtra-hatya. Soma-mada fuels release of 'arṇāṁsi'—classic rain-liberation myth.
Stable character plus timely courage unblocks stuck systems; celebration can fuel necessary rupture of harmful dams.

For he stays e’en the stayers, spread o’er laden cloud, rooted in light, strengthened in rapture by the wise. Indra with thought, with skilled activity, I call, most liberal giver, for he sates him with the juice.
He stays even the stayers, spread over the laden cloud, light-rooted, wisdom-strengthened in rapture; with skilled thought I call that most liberal Indra who is sated with the juice.
Paradox of Indra restraining restrainers; 'candrabudhna' and 'manīṣibhiḥ' madavṛddha. Invocation by 'svapasyayā dhiyā'—crafted insight seeking 'maṁhiṣṭharāti'.
Call on deep expertise with craft and clarity when facing nested blockages; generosity follows right engagement.

Whom those that flow in heaven on sacred grass, his own assistants, nobly-natured, fill full like the sea,— Beside that Indra when he smote down Vṛtra stood his helpers, straight in form, mighty, invincible.
Whom heaven-flowing drops on sacred grass fill full like the sea—his own noble aids; beside Indra when he smote Vṛtra stood helpers straight, mighty, invincible.
Soma streams as 'subhvaḥ' filling Indra 'samudraṁ na'. Collective 'ūtayaḥ' stand 'anu' in Vṛtra-hatya—deva-sangha with the vajrin, not solitary myth alone.
Victories against systemic harm need filled leaders and upright allies standing in formation.

To him, as in wild joy he fought with him who stayed the rain, his helpers sped like swift streams down a slope, When Indra, thunder-armed, made bold by Soma draughts, as Tṛta cleaveth Vala's fences, cleft him through.
To him fighting the rain-stayer in wild joy, helpers sped like swift streams down a slope; when thunder-armed Indra, bold with Soma, cleft him as Trita cleaves Vala's fences.
Ūtayaḥ flow 'raghvīr iva pravaṇe'. Indra as vajrī parallel to Trita vs Vala—layered Vedic recovery of light/waters. Soma 'dhṛṣamāṇa' enables the cleft.
When the moment breaks open, aligned help arrives fast—prepare so courage and allies coincide.

Splendour encompassed thee, forth shone thy warrior might: the rain-obstructer lay in mid-air's lowest deep, What time, O Indra, thou didst cast thy thunder down upon the jaws of Vṛitra hard to be restrained.
Splendour moved around you; warrior might flashed forth; the rain-obstructer lay in mid-air's lowest deep when you cast thunder on Vṛtra's hard-to-grip jaws.
Ghṛṇā and śavas envelope Indra; Vṛtra 'rajaso budhnam āśayat'. Vajra on 'hanvoḥ'—precise strike at the devouring mouth of obstruction.
Strike at the true mouth of a problem—the point that actually holds the blockage—not only its outer noise.

The hymns which magnify thee, Indra, reach to thee even as water-brooks flow down and fill the lake. Tvaṣṭar gave yet more force to thine appropriate strength, and forged thy thunderbolt of overpowering might.
Hymns that magnify you reach you as wave-brooks fill a lake; even Tvaṣṭṛ increased your fitting strength and forged the overpowering thunderbolt.
Brahmāṇi as ūrmayaḥ filling 'hrada'. Tvaṣṭṛ's collaboration—'yujyaṁ śavaḥ' and vajra 'abhibhūtyojasam'—divine craft supporting Indra's kratu.
Feedback and skilled tooling amplify leaders; craftspeople and communicators jointly forge capacity.

When, Indra, thou whose power is linked with thy Bay Steeds hadst smitten Vṛtra, causing floods to flow for man, Thou heldst in thine arms the metal thunderbolt, and settest in the heaven the Sun for all to see.
When you, whose power joins the bay steeds, had slain Vṛtra and made floods flow for humankind, you held the iron bolt in your arms and set the Sun in heaven for seeing.
Hari-linked kratu; Vṛtra-hatya → 'manuṣe gātuyan apaḥ'; then Sūrya 'ādhārayaḥ dṛśe'. Anthropocentric compassion within cosmic victory—waters and sun for people.
After breaking a harmful barrier, secure lasting public goods—shared infrastructure and visibility—not only the win itself.

In fear they raised the lofty self-resplendent hymn, praise giving and effectual, leading up to heaven, When Indra's helpers fighting for the good of men, the Maruts, faithful to mankind, joyed in the light.
In fear they raised the lofty self-shining hymn leading up to heaven; when Indra's helpers, the Maruts faithful to humankind, joyed in the light for people's good.
Maruts as 'mānuṣapradhanāḥ' and 'svarnṛṣācaḥ' rejoice 'anu' Indra. Stotra 'rohaṇaṁ divaḥ' born even from bhiyā—awe generating ascending brahman.
Healthy awe can birth elevating culture; allies who stay faithful to human welfare amplify breakthroughs.

Then Heaven himself, the mighty, at that Dragon's roar reeled back in terror when, Indra, thy thunderbolt In the wild joy of Soma had struck off with might the head of Vṛtra, tyrant of the earth and heaven.
Even mighty Heaven reeled at that dragon's roar when your bolt, in Soma's wild joy, struck off Vṛtra's head—tyrant of earth and sky.
Dyaus 'amavān' trembles at ahi-svana; Indra's mada-powered vajra beheads cosmic tyrant. Scale of Vṛtra-hatya shakes even the firmament—ṛta restored at maximum pitch.
Removing a systemic tyrant can unsettle even 'stable' institutions; prepare for aftershocks when justice finally lands.

O Indra, were this earth extended forth tenfold, and men who dwell therein multiplied day by day, Still here thy conquering might, Maghavan, would be famed: it hath waxed vast as heaven in majesty and power.
O Indra, were this earth stretched tenfold and its peoples multiplied day by day, still your conquering might would be famed here—vast as heaven in power.
Counterfactual praise: even 'daśabhuji' pṛthivī cannot outscale Maghavan's 'viśrutaṁ sahaḥ'. Bhakti hyperbole affirming inexhaustible Indra-śakti.
True capacity scales with challenge; build character that remains adequate when complexity multiplies.

Thou, bold of heart, in thine own native might, for help, upon the limit of this mid-air and of heaven, Hast made the earth to be the pattern of thy strength: embracing flood and light thou reachest to the sky.
You, bold-hearted in native might, for help at mid-air's and heaven's limit, made earth the measure of your strength; embracing flood and light you reach the sky.
'Svabhūtyojā' at 'rajaso vyomanaḥ pāre'. Bhūmi as 'pratimānam ojasas'; Indra 'paribhū' of apaḥ and svar—immanent measure and transcendent reach.
Let tangible ground measure your strength, while still embracing wider flows—local accountability plus systemic vision.

Thou art the counterpart of earth, the Master of lofty heaven with all its mighty Heroes: Thou hast filled all the region with thy greatness: yea, of a truth there is none other like thee.
You are earth's counterpart, lord of lofty heaven with its mighty heroes; you have filled all mid-space with greatness—truly none other is like you.
Pratimāna of pṛthivī and pati of bṛhat dyaus; antarikṣa 'āprāḥ mahitvā'. 'Nakir anyas tvāvān'—unique Indra as Vedic affirmation of singular cosmic agency in storm and liberation.
Own uniqueness of responsibility where you alone can act; fill your middle spaces with commensurate greatness.
1.52.14

Whose amplitude the heaven and earth have not attained, whose bounds the waters of mid-air have never reached,— Not, when in joy he fights the stayer of the rain: thou, and none else, hast made all things in order due.
Whose expanse heaven and earth have not attained, whose bounds mid-air waters never reached—not when he fights the rain-stayer in joy: you alone ordered all things duly.
Indra's 'vyacas' exceeds dyāvāpṛthivī and sindhavaḥ. Only he 'anyac cakṛṣe viśvam ānuṣak'—fashioned the ordered whole in and beyond battle-joy.
Ordering intelligence exceeds the battlefield; after conflict, the real work is fitting the whole into due relation.

The Maruts sang thy praise in this encounter, and in thee all the Deities delighted, What time thou, Indra, with thy spiky weapon, thy deadly bolt, smotest the face of Vṛtra.
There the Maruts sang your praise in that contest, and all the Gods delighted in you, when with the spiked weapon, Indra, you struck Vṛtra's face.
Closing tableau: Marut stotra and viśve devāsaḥ 'amadann anu' at the 'bhṛṣṭimatā vadhena' blow to Vṛtra's 'pratyaṅ'. Cosmic festival of ṛta restored.
Mark collective celebration when a shared threat is faced down—public joy seals social memory of courage.
