MAKE glad with songs that Ram whom many men invoke, worthy of songs of praise, Indra, the sea of wealth; Whose gracious deeds for men spread like the heavens abroad: sing praise to him the Sage, most liberal for our good.
Gladden with songs that ram whom many invoke, Indra worthy of praise, ocean of wealth; whose gracious deeds for humans spread like the heavens—sing to that sage, most liberal for our good.
Indra as 'meṣa' and 'vasvo arṇava'—virile force and inexhaustible store. 'Puruḥūta' and 'ṛgmiya' mark him as communal focus of stotra; his 'mānuṣa' deeds expand like dyaus—Vedic heroism as cosmic generosity.
Celebrate leadership that is both strong and expansive in benefit; public gratitude reinforces liberal, competent power.

As aids the skilful Ṛbhus yearned to Indra strong to save, who fills mid-air, encompassed round with might, Rushing in rapture; and o’er Śatakratu came the gladdening shout that urged him on to victory.
Helpful Ṛbhus longed for Indra strong to save, who fills mid-air, wrapped in might; rushing in rapture, the gladdening shout mounted Śatakratu toward victory.
Ṛbhu craftsmen ally with Indra 'antarikṣaprā'. 'Śatakratu'—lord of a hundred sacred powers—receives 'sūnṛtā' as spur to jay. Skill and mantra joy cooperate with vajra-force.
Pair craftsmanship with courageous energy; celebration and skill together drive breakthroughs.

Thou hast disclosed the kine's stall for the Aṅgirases, and made a way for Atri by a hundred doors. On Vimada thou hast bestowed both food and wealth, making thy bolt dance in the sacrificer's fight.
You opened the cattle-pen for the Aṅgirases and made a path for Atri through a hundred doors; you brought food and wealth to Vimada, making your bolt dance in the offerer's fight.
Mythic memory of Indra's ūti to Aṅgiras, Atri, Vimada—gotra unlocking and 'śatadureṣu gātuvit'. Vajra 'nartayan' in yajamāna's struggle: divine force choreographed with human rite.
Open blocked resources for committed teams; path-finding and timely force unlock stalled livelihoods.

Thou hast unclosed the prisons of the waters; thou hast in the mountain seized the treasure rich in gifts. When thou hadst slain with might the dragon Vṛtra, thou, Indra, didst raise the Sun in heaven for all to see.
You unclosed the waters' coverings; on the mountain you seized treasure rich in gifts; when you slew the dragon Vṛtra with might, you raised the Sun in heaven for all to see.
Core Indra-Vṛtra theology: 'apām apidhānā' opened, Vala/mountain treasure taken, ahi slain, Sūrya 'ārohayaḥ dṛśe'. Liberation of waters and light as one ṛta-restoring act.
Break obstructive monopolies on essentials—information, access, care—so light and flow return to the commons.

With wondrous might thou blewest enchanter fiends away, with powers celestial those who called on thee in jest. Thou, hero-hearted, hast broken down Pipru's forts, and helped Ṛjiśvan when the Dasyus were struck dead.
With wondrous powers you brought down the māyā-wielders who offered only in mockery; hero-hearted, you shattered Pipru's forts and aided Ṛjiśvan in striking the Dasyus.
Indra counters 'māyin' who misuse ritual 'adhi śuptau'. Destruction of Pipru's puraḥ and aid to Ṛjiśvan frame dharma-yuddha against chaotic force—not ethnic hate but defense of satya-yajña.
Confront bad-faith systems that weaponize appearance; support allies who face lawless obstruction with courage.

Thou savedst Kutsa when Śuṣṇa was smitten down; to Atithigva gavest Śambara for a prey. E’en mighty Arbuda thou troddest under foot: thou from of old wast born to strike the Dasyus dead.
You saved Kutsa when Śuṣṇa was struck; you gave Śambara to Atithigva; you trod mighty Arbuda underfoot—from of old you were born for striking the Dasyu.
Catalogue of Indra's 'dasyuhatya' aiding Kutsa, Atithigva against drought-demon Śuṣṇa and fort-keeper Śambara. 'Sanād eva jajñiṣe'—eternal vocation of the vajrin to clear drought and captivity.
Persistent vocation against droughts of justice: keep showing up for the vulnerable when extractive powers dominate.

All power and might is closely gathered up in thee; thy bounteous spirit joys in drinking Soma juice. Known is the thunderbolt that lies within thine arms: rend off therewith all manly prowess of our foe.
All might is gathered in you; your bounty joys in Soma-drinking; the thunderbolt set in your arms is known—with it hew away all the foe's manly powers.
Concentration of 'taviṣī' in Indra; 'rādhas' delights in somapītha. Vajra 'bāhvoḥ hita' as known instrument of dharma—cutting 'vṛṣṇya' of the śatru who blocks ṛta.
Gather capability, celebrate wisely, then apply decisive tools against what truly threatens collective good.

Discern thou well Āryas and Dasyus; punishing the lawless give them up to him whose grass is strewn. Be thou the sacrificer's strong encourager all these thy deeds are my delight at festivals.
Discern well the Āryas and the Dasyus; punishing the lawless, give them over to him whose grass is strewn; be the sacrificer's strong impeller—all these deeds I delight in at the festivals.
Ethical discernment: 'āryān ye ca dasyavaḥ' here marks vow-keepers versus 'avrata' lawless, not modern race. Indra 'śāsat' delivers obstructors to the barhiṣmant—yajña-centered justice.
Practice moral discernment: protect rule-of-law communities and refuse to romanticize predation dressed as freedom.

Indra gives up the lawless to the pious man, destroying by the Strong Ones those who have no strength. Vamra when glorified destroyed the gathered piles of the still waxing great one who would reach the heaven.
Indra subjects the lawless to the vow-keeper, destroying with the strong those without strength of alliance; praised, Vamra shattered the piled works of the still-growing one who would reach heaven.
Anuvrata vs apavrata; Indra empowers the aligned. Vamra legend—small devotee destroying arrogant 'vṛddha' aspiring to dyaus—humility-plus-Indra over titan ego.
Small aligned actors can dismantle bloated vanity projects when integrity and timely support meet.

The might which Uśanā hath formed for thee with might rends in its greatness and with strength both worlds apart. O Hero-souled, the steeds of Vāta, yoked by thought, have carried thee to fame while thou art filled with power.
The might Uśanā forged for you with might rends both worlds apart; O hero-souled, Vāta's thought-yoked steeds have borne you to fame while you fill with power.
Kāvya Uśanā as shaper of Indra's 'sahas'; world-rending 'śavas'. Vāta's 'manoyuja' horses carry the filled Indra to 'śravas'—mind, wind, and fame in one Vedic complex.
Mentor-forged capability plus swift ideation can move you into earned visibility—fill the form before chasing fame.

When Indra hath rejoiced with Kāvya Uśanā, he mounts his steeds who swerve wider and wider yet. The Strong hath loosed his bolt with the swift rush of rain, and he hath rent in pieces Śuṣṇa's firm-built forts.
When Indra rejoiced with Kāvya Uśanā, he mounts steeds that swerve ever wider; the strong released waters' rush and tore Śuṣṇa's firm forts.
Soma-joy with Uśanā precedes cosmic hydrology: 'apaḥ srotasā asṛjat' and Śuṣṇa-pura destroyed. Creative counsel + Indra force = drought's end.
Good counsel plus decisive action breaks entrenched scarcity; joy in collaboration fuels the breakthrough.

Thou mountest on thy car amid strong Soma draughts: Śāryāta brought thee those in which thou hast delight. Indra, when thou art pleased with men whose Soma flows thou risest to unchallenged glory in the sky.
You mount the car amid strong Soma draughts that Śāryāta brought for your delight; when pleased with Soma-pressers, Indra, you rise to unchallenged glory in the sky.
Śāryāta's hospitality models how human offering seats Indra on ratha. 'Anarvāṇaṁ ślokam ā rohase divi'—unopposed praise-glory as fruit of mutual pleasure in yajña.
Host excellence invites excellence; shared celebration elevates reputation that no rival can cheaply contest.

To old Kakṣīvān, Soma-presser, skilled in song, O Indra, thou didst give the youthful Vṛcayā. Thou, very wise, wast Menā, Vrsanśva's child: those deeds of thine must all be told at Soma feasts.
You gave young Vṛcayā to aged Kakṣīvān the Soma-presser and skilled singer; you, wise one, became Menā to Vṛṣaṇaśva—these deeds must be told at Soma feasts.
Narrative wonders of Indra's gifts and transformations ('Menā abhavaḥ') belong in savana kīrtana. Divine play that restores lineage joy is 'pravācya'—to be proclaimed.
Tell the restorative stories. Communities renew when they narrate how help rearranged impossible odds.

The good man's refuge in his need is Indra, firm as a doorpost, praised among the Pajras. Indra alone is Lord of wealth, the Giver, lover of riches, chariots, kine, and horses.
Indra is the good man's refuge in need, firm as a doorpost, praised among the Pajras; Indra alone lords wealth—giver loving riches, chariots, kine, and horses.
'Sudhyo nireke'—refuge of the wise in extremity; 'duryo na yūpaḥ'—steady as sacrificial post. Maghavan as sole 'īśāna' of rayi who loves go-aśva-ratha prosperity aligned with stotra.
Be a reliable post for people in crisis, and steward resources as gifts meant to move, not only to pile.

To him the Mighty One, the self-resplendent, verily strong and great, this praise is uttered. May we and all the heroes, with the princes, be, in this fray, O Indra, in thy keeping.
This reverence is spoken to the bull, the self-ruling, true-powered, mighty one; in this fray, O Indra, may we—all heroes with the princes—be in your protection.
Closing namas to 'vṛṣabha svarāj' 'satyaśuṣma'. Collective prayer: 'sarvavīrāḥ' with sūris under Indra's 'śarman'—shared kṣatra under dharma, not lone heroics.
Seek shelter in shared courage under just leadership; survival and dignity are collective, not solitary performances.
