DAWN on us with prosperity, O Uṣas, Daughter of the Sky, Dawn with great glory, Goddess, Lady of the Light, dawn thou with riches, Bounteous One.

Dawn on us with lovely gift, O Uṣas, daughter of heaven; dawn with lofty splendour, O radiant goddess, dawn with wealth, O generous one.

Uṣas as 'duhitā divaḥ' and 'vibhāvarī' is asked for vāma, dyumna, and rāyi together—beauty, glory, and prosperity as one dawn-grace in Sanātana morning devotion.

Ask morning for more than caffeine: clarity, dignity, and enough resource to act well.

1.48.2

They, bringing steeds and kine, boon-givers of all wealth, have oft sped forth to lighten us. O Uṣas, waken up for me the sounds of joy: send us the riches of the great.

Those who bring horses and cows, knowers of all good, have often sped to brighten us; O Uṣas, awaken joyful truths for me; urge the bounty of the liberal.

Dawn hosts powers that convey go-aśva wealth. 'Sūnṛtā'—truthful, life-giving speech—is wakened with her; she 'codaya' (impels) the rādhas of maghavans toward the singer.

Use early hours to speak honestly and to activate generosity—your own and your network's—before the day's noise dulls resolve.

1.48.3

Uṣas hath dawned, and now shall dawn, the Goddess, driver forth of cars Which, as she cometh nigh, have fixed their thought on her, like glory-seekers on the flood.

Uṣas has dawned and will dawn again, goddess who sets chariots in motion; those who fixed their minds on her approach are like seekers of renown upon the ocean.

Continuity of Uṣas—'uvāsa ... ucchāc ca nu'—grounds faith in cyclic ṛta. Chariots (human enterprise) move because she arrives; attention fixed on her is like mariners oriented to a vast goal.

Trust renewing cycles. Orient projects to reliable rhythms rather than one-off spikes of motivation.

1.48.4

Here Kaṇva, chief of Kaṇva's race, sings forth aloud the glories of the heroes’ names,— The. princes who, O Uṣas, as thou comest near, direct their thoughts to liberal gifts.

O Uṣas, among those who yoke their minds to giving as you approach, Kaṇva, most Kaṇva among them, sings aloud the names of those heroes.

Liberal intention ('dānāya') synchronized with dawn defines the sūri. The foremost Kaṇva praises nṛṇām nāma—heroic names—linking kīrtana to the ethics of gift.

Publicly honor those who give. Recognition at the start of cycles reinforces cultures of contribution.

1.48.5

Like a good matron Uṣas comes carefully tending everything: Rousing all life she stirs all creatures that have feet, and makes the birds of air fly up.

Like a noble woman, Uṣas comes carefully tending all; aging the dark enclosure, she stirs what goes on foot and makes birds take wing.

Classic image: Uṣas as 'sūnarī' / good matron ordering the world. She 'jarayanti vṛjanam'—wears out the night's confinement—and awakens padvat and pakṣin, all mobile life.

Good stewardship is attentive and awakening. Leadership that 'tends everything' enables movement rather than controlling it.

1.48.6

She sends the busy forth, each man to his pursuit: delay she knows not as she springs. O rich in opulence, after thy dawning birds that have flown forth no longer rest.

She sends each to their task; she knows no delay as she springs forth; O wealth-rich one, after your dawning the flown birds no longer rest.

Uṣas as impeller of 'samana' (common activity) and 'arthin' (those with aims). Her 'vyuṣṭi' ends idle roosting—kāla itself as dharmic summons to work.

Respect circadian activation: align deep work with natural alertness instead of fighting biology with endless night effort.

1.48.7

This Dawn hath yoked her steeds afar, beyond the rising of the Sun: Borne on a hundred chariots she, auspicious Dawn, advances on her way to Men.

This fortunate Uṣas has yoked her steeds from afar, beyond the sun's rising; on a hundred chariots she advances toward humankind.

Paradoxical majesty: she yokes 'parāvataḥ' even 'sūryasya udayanād adhi'—her operation precedes and exceeds ordinary solar measure—yet she moves 'abhi mānuṣān' for human welfare.

Forces that serve humanity often organize offstage and at scale; stay ready to meet large positive shifts when they arrive.

1.48.8

To meet her glance all living creatures bend them down: Excellent One, she makes the light. Uṣas, the Daughter of the Sky, the opulent, shines foes and enmities away.

The whole world bows to behold her; the excellent lady makes the light; opulent daughter of heaven, Uṣas shines away hatred and failures.

Uṣas as 'jyotiṣkṛṇoti'—light-maker—dispels 'dveṣa' and 'sridh' (enmity and miscarriage of aim). Dawn as ethical-cosmic cleansing in Vedic imagination.

Illumination reduces hostility. Transparency and clear communication often dissolve conflicts that thrived in obscurity.

1.48.9

Shine on us with thy radiant light, O Uṣas, Daughter of the Sky, Bringing to us great store of high felicity, and beaming on our solemn rites.

Shine on us with radiant and delightful beam, daughter of heaven, bringing us abundant good fortune as you dawn upon our sacred rites.

'Bhānunā candreṇa'—bright and pleasing radiance—escorts 'saubhaga' into 'diviṣṭi' (heavenward rites). Uṣas blesses yajña with felicity, not only photons.

Let clarity be pleasant, not harsh. Environments that feel bright and welcoming sustain better ritualized habits of work and care.

1.48.10

For in thee is each living creature's breath and life, when, Excellent! thou dawnest forth. Borne on thy lofty car, O Lady of the Light, hear, thou of wondrous wealth, our call.

For in you is the breath and life of every creature when you dawn, O excellent one; on your lofty car, lady of light, hear our call, O wondrously wealthy.

Uṣas holds 'prāṇana' and 'jīvana' of the viśva—dawn as condition of biological and spiritual vitality. The vibhāvarī on bṛhat ratha is petitioned for śravaṇa.

Protect morning light exposure and sleep hygiene—literal dawn physiology underwrites mood, immunity, and motivation.

1.48.11

O Uṣas, win thyself the strength which among men is wonderful. Bring thou thereby the pious unto holy rites, those who as priests sing praise to thee.

O Uṣas, win that wonderful strength which is among humankind; thereby bring the pious to the rites—those priests who sing you.

She is asked to appropriate 'vāja' citra among mānuṣa jana and convey sukṛtaḥ to adhvara. Dawn mediates between human vigor and sacred assembly.

Channel collective energy into constructive gatherings; facilitators who 'win strength' for good work multiply impact.

1.48.12

Bring from the firmament, O Uṣas, all the Gods, that they may drink our Soma juice, And, being what thou art, vouchsafe us kine and steeds, strength meet for praise and hero might.

Bring all the Gods from the mid-space, O Uṣas, to drink Soma; and grant us cattle, horses, praiseworthy vigor, and heroic might.

Uṣas as psychopomp of Devas from antarikṣa to Soma-pīti. She is also asked for go, aśva, ukthya vāja, suvīrya—full Vedic prosperity package.

Invite diverse talents into shared celebration, and resource the community with mobility, nourishment, and courage.

1.48.13

May Uṣas whose auspicious rays are seen resplendent round about, Grant us great riches, fair in form, of all good things, wealth which light labour may attain.

May Uṣas, whose bright auspicious rays are seen all around, give us wealth of every good, fair-formed, and easy to manage.

'Rayi viśvavāra supeśas sugmya'—wealth that is universally choice, well-shaped, and tractable. Vedic prosperity ideal: beautiful and workable, not crushing.

Prefer assets and goals that are elegant and maintainable—abundance you can actually live with.

1.48.14

Mighty One, whom the Ṛṣis of old time invoked for their protection and their help, O Uṣas, graciously answer our songs of praise with bounty and with brilliant light.

Mighty one whom ancient ṛṣis invoked for protection and help—O Uṣas, answer our stotras with bounty and brilliant flame.

Paramparā: pūrva ṛṣayas called her for ūti and avas; the present Kaṇva seeks the same with śukra śociṣ. Continuity of dawn-bhakti across ages.

Revive ancestral practices that still work—morning routines of gratitude and asking—rather than inventing emptiness.

1.48.15

Uṣas, as thou with light to day hast opened the twin doors of heaven, So grant thou us a dwelling wide and free from foes. O Goddess, give us food with kine.

O Uṣas, as with your beam today you open the twin doors of heaven, grant us a wide, wolf-free shelter and food rich in cattle.

'Dvārā divaḥ'—heaven's double doors—opened at dawn. Prayer for 'avṛka pṛthu chardiḥ' (broad refuge without predators) and gomati iṣ—security and nourishment as paired goods.

Open access and safety together: opportunities without shelter breed anxiety; shelter without openness stagnates.

1.48.16

Bring us to wealth abundant, sent in every shape, to plentiful refreshing food, To all-subduing splendour, Uṣas, Mighty One, to strength, thou rich in spoil and wealth.

Unite us with vast, all-formed wealth, with nourishing foods, with splendour that conquers all, O great Uṣas, and with victorious strengths, O rich in prizes.

Final synthesis: rāyi, iḷā, dyumna viśvatur, vāja—material, nutritive, luminous, and competitive excellences gathered by 'saṁ mimikṣva'. Holistic dawn-blessing.

Aim for integrated flourishing—resources, health, reputation, and capability—rather than optimizing one metric to exhaustion.
