AGNI I first invoke for our prosperity; I call on Mitra, Varuṇa, to aid us here. I call on Night who gives rest to all moving life; I call on Savitar the God to lend us help.
I invoke Agni first for wellbeing; I invoke Mitra and Varuna here for aid; I invoke Night, who settles all that moves; I invoke the god Savitar for protection.
A complete sandhya charter: Agni for svasti, Mitra-Varuna for avas (moral-solar guardianship), Ratri as 'jagato niveshani' (settler of the moving world), and Savitar for uti. The Stimulator is approached within a full ecology of fire, vow-guardians, rest, and luminous impulse—the matrix from which Gayatri's Savitr-dhi meditation later shines.
Balance activation and rest: kindle focus, keep ethical alliances, honor sleep as sacred settling, and call on motivating clarity for protection—not hustle without night.

Throughout the dusky firmament advancing, laying to rest the immortal and the mortal, Borne in his golden chariot he cometh, Savitar, God who looks on every creature.
Rolling onward through the dark realm, laying to rest both immortal and mortal, the god Savitar comes on his golden chariot, beholding all the worlds.
Savitar 'krishnena rajasa vartamanah' both 'niveshayan' amrita and martya and arrives 'hiranyayena rathena,' 'bhuvanani pashyan.' He is impeller and settler—udaya and nimesha of cosmos. The golden ratha and all-seeing gaze underlie Gayatri's trust that Savitr's light can awaken dhi without abandoning care for rest.
True leadership both settles and stimulates. See the whole field; know when to quiet a system and when to arrive with bright, golden initiative.

आ दे॒वो या॑ति सवि॒ता प॑रा॒वतो ऽप॒ विश्वा॑ दुरि॒ता बाध॑मानः ||
The God moves by the upward path, the downward; with two bright Bays, adorable, he journeys. Savitar comes, the God from the far distance, and chases from us all distress and sorrow.
The worshipful god travels the downward path and the upward, journeying with two bright bay steeds; Savitar comes from the far distance, driving off all evils.
Savitar's paths—'pravata' and 'udvata'—map descending and ascending currents of divine stimulation. With 'shubhrabhyam haribhyam' he arrives 'paravatah,' 'apa vishva durita badhamanah.' The Stimulator is also apotropaic: awakening includes banishing durita. Gayatri-adjacent ethics: light that clarifies also repels harm.
Motivation should travel both 'up' (aspiration) and 'down' (grounding), arrive from beyond local fatigue, and actively displace harmful patterns—not merely pep-talk over them.

His chariot decked with pearl, of various colours, lofty, with golden pole, the God hath mounted, The many-rayed One, Savitar the holy, bound, bearing power and might, for darksome regions.
The worshipful one has mounted the lofty, all-formed chariot covered with pearls, with golden yoke-pin; many-rayed Savitar, bearing power, has taken the dark spaces.
'Vishvarupa' ratha with 'krishanaih,' 'hiranyashamyam,' and 'citra-bhanu' Savitar 'dadhana' tavishi toward 'krishna rajamsi.' Beauty and force combine: the Stimulator's vehicle is aesthetically complete yet aimed into darkness. Illumination is intentional entry into tamas with power, not avoidance of night.
Equip bright, well-crafted means—and then deliberately enter hard, dark problem-spaces with real strength. Beauty of tools is not for display alone.

Drawing the gold-yoked car his Bays, white-footed, have manifested light to all the peoples. Held in the lap of Savitar, divine One, all men, all beings have their place for ever.
White-footed dark bay steeds drawing the gold-yoked car have revealed light to the peoples; forever all clans and all worlds rest in the lap of divine Savitar. There are three heavens—two in Savitar's lap, one heroic in Yama's world; immortals rest as on a chariot's linch-pin—let him who has known this declare it here.
Steeds 'vi ... akhyan' light to janah; 'upasthe' of Daivya Savitar all bhuvanani 'tasthuh'—ontological dependence on the Stimulator's lap. Triple dyu teaching: two with Savitar, one in Yama's virasat realm; amrita rest like 'anim' (linch-pin). Esoteric cosmology invites the knower ('yah u tat ciketat') to speak—Vedic jnana as public declaration. Gayatri's Savitr is thus not only sunrise but metaphysical seat of worlds.
Recognize the deeper ground that holds many 'worlds' of your life. Illuminate publicly what you truly understand about that ground—and honor both waking realms and the serious realm of endings.

Three heavens there are; two Savitar's, adjacent: in Yama's world is one, the home of heroes, As on a linch-pin, firm, rest things immortal: he who hath known it let him here declare it.
The fair-winged one has lit up the mid-spaces—deep-quivering Asura, excellent leader; where now is Surya? Who has perceived to which heaven his ray has stretched?
Savitar as 'Suparna,' 'Gabhiravepa Asura,' 'Sunitha' reveals antariksha. Mystical question: 'kvedanim Suryah'—where is the Sun, which dyu holds his rashmi? Distinguishes Savitar (impelling principle) from Surya (visible solar orb)—a key Vedic nuance behind Gayatri's address to Savitr as awakener of dhi, not merely the disk in the sky.
Distinguish driving purpose from visible outcomes. Ask where the 'ray' of your energy actually went—and who can truly see it—beyond the obvious surface sun.

He, strong of wing, hath lightened up the regions, deep-quivering Asura, the gentle Leader. Where now is Sūrya, where is one to tell us to what celestial sphere his ray hath wandered?
He has lit the eight points of the earth, the three desert wastes, the Seven Rivers; gold-eyed god Savitar has come, bearing choice treasures for the generous giver.
Geographic illumination: 'ashtau kakubhah,' 'tri dhanva,' 'sapta sindhun'—directions, arid tracts, sacred rivers. 'Hiranyaksha' Savitar 'agad' with 'ratna varyani' for 'dashushe.' The Stimulator's light is civilizational: it maps Bharata space and rewards dana. Gayatri's world-illuming Savitr here touches soil and sindhu.
Let clarity reach every direction of your map—including neglected 'deserts'—and let generosity be met with real rewards. Illumination should be geographically and ethically complete.

The earth's eight points his brightness hath illumined, three desert regions and the Seven Rivers. God Savitar the gold-eyed hath come hither, giving choice treasures unto him who worships.
Gold-handed Savitar, far-seeing, moves between both Heaven and Earth; he drives off disease, sends the Sun, and spreads the sky through the dark realm.
'Hiranyapanih' 'vicarshanih' Savitar 'antariyate' Dyava-Prithivi—mediator of the parental worlds. He 'badhate amivam,' 'veti Suryam,' and 'abhi krishnena rajasa dyam rinoti.' Classic medical-cosmic sequence: remove illness, advance the Sun, unfold heaven through darkness. Gayatri's prayer for dhi sits on this same hand of gold that heals and unveils.
Sequence recovery: clear disease (toxicity), advance clear light (truth), then expand open space for life. Mediate between ideal (heaven) and practical (earth) with capable 'golden hands.'

The golden-handed Savitar, far-seeing, goes on his way between the earth and heaven, Drives away sickness, bids the Sun approach us, and spreads the bright sky through the darksome region.
May the gold-handed Asura, excellent guide, most gracious and strong, come hitherward; driving off rakshasas and sorcerous harmers, the god has taken his stand, praised at evening.
Evening face of Savitar: 'Hiranyahasto Asurah Sunithah' approaches 'arvank,' 'apasedhan' rakshasas and yatudhanas, 'asthad' 'pratidosham' while 'grinanah.' The Stimulator is not only dawn's Gayatri light but dusk's guardian against psychic and chaotic predation—sandhya's double door.
Protect the evening threshold. As energy winds down, keep boundaries against draining, predatory influences—and consciously praise (reinforce) the clarifying force that stands watch.

May he, gold-handed Asura, kind Leader, come hither to us with his help and favour. Driving off Rākṣasas and Yātudhānas, the God is present, praised in hymns at evening.
O Savitar, those ancient paths of yours, dustless and well-made in the mid-space—by those easy paths protect us today, O god, and speak for us from above.
Closing sharanagati: Savitar's 'purvyasah panthah'—'arenavah' (dustless), 'sukritah' in antariksha—become today's 'sugebhih' paths of protection. 'Raksha ca nah adhi ca bruhi'—guard and intercede from above. The hymn ends where Gayatri lives: walk the Stimulator's ancient clear paths so that dhi may be led without the dust of confusion.
Follow proven, low-friction paths of clarity already 'well-made' in the culture of wisdom. Ask not only for protection but for advocacy—someone/something higher that speaks for your best aim today.
