Puri Shri Jagannath Temple
Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra & Goddess Subhadra (Daru Brahma forms)
Spiritual philosophy
Represents universal brotherhood and abstract divinity (*Daru Brahma*). In Puri, Jagannath is not a remote deity inside a sanctuary, but the supreme Sovereign of the cosmos who steps outside to bless all beings regardless of status, caste, or birth.
Architecture & structure
Kalinga Architecture (Ratha-Style Deula)
Built in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva. The main Shikhara rises to 214 feet, topped by the iconic Neelachakra (Eight-metal wheel) and the Patitapabana flag, which uniquely flutters against the wind direction. Houses the Ananda Bazar, the world's largest open-air traditional kitchen.
