Kauai's Hindu Monastery (Kauai Aadheenam / Iraivan Temple)

Rooted in Saiva Siddhanta philosophy, emphasizing 'God is All and in All' (Monistic Theism). Founded by Gurudeva Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, the monastery acts as a global beacon for monastic training, scriptural translation, and pure traditional temple worship.

Architecture & structure

Traditional Hand-Carved Chola Architecture (All-Granite)

Built on a 51-acre tropical sanctuary on the banks of the Wailua River. Iraivan Temple is constructed entirely out of white granite hand-carved in Bengaluru, India, and assembled in Hawaii without any machinery, steel, or reinforced concrete. Features carved stone balls spinning inside lion mouths.

Walking through the Rudraksha grove, witnessing traditional Saiva Agama Pujas, experiencing the 700-pound unbroken Crystal Sphatika Lingam, meditating in the Kadavul Temple, and exploring the lush sacred gardens.

Dress code & guidelines

Strict traditional modest temple attire required. Men must wear Sarongs or Dhotis with shirts. Women must wear Sarees, Anarkalis, or loose long skirts with covered shoulders. Shorts, tank tops, tight pants, and western casuals are not permitted.
