Step 1
Mandap Setup with Banana Leaves
Shastri Ji says: Construct a sacred enclosure by tying four banana trunks/leaves to the four legs of a wooden altar (Chowki). Cover the top with a yellow or red cloth and place Lord Satyanarayan's image in the center.
ॐ सत्यनारायणाय नमः
Step 2
Panjiri Prasad & Panchamrit Preparation
Roast wheat flour in desi ghee, cool it, and mix powdered sugar, chopped bananas, and Tulsi leaves to make the sacred Panamrit/Panjiri. Prepare Panchamrit in a separate bowl. This special sweet offering is mandatory for Lord Satyanarayan.
श्री विष्णुप्रिया तुलसी समर्पयामि
Step 3
Reading of the 5 Katha Chapters
Gather family members around the altar. Read or listen to the 5 chapters (Adhyays) of Lord Satyanarayan Katha with total devotion. After each chapter, blow the Shankha (conch) or ring the bell and chant 'Shree Satyanarayana Bhagwan Ki Jai'.
जय सत्यदेवा बोलो जय सत्यदेवा
Step 4
Aarti & Offering Prasad to All
Perform the main Satyanarayan Aarti with Kapoor or Ghee lamp. Offer the Panjiri and Panchamrit Bhog to the Lord first, then distribute it among all attendees and neighbors. No one should leave the Katha without taking Prasad.
ॐ जय जगदीश हरे...
