1.68.1

COMMINGLING, restless, he ascends the sky, unveiling nights and all that stands or moves,

Restlessly mingling, he mounts the sky; he unveils the nights and all that stands or moves.

Agni as bhuraṇyu (swift busy flame) climbs divam and reveals aktun—dispelling ignorance while illuminating sthata and caratha (static and mobile creation). The mystic fire makes the whole field of being visible.

Bring light to both 'standing' structures and 'moving' processes in your life—clarity for systems and for change.

1.68.2

As he the sole God is preeminent in greatness among all these other Gods.

When he, the one God among all these, became supreme through greatness.

Eko visvesam…devanam mahitva affirms Agni's unique greatness without denying the many Devas—classic Vedic henotheism: the flame as foremost bridge and measure of divine presence.

Choose a clear center of value; greatness is focus that orders the many, not erasure of diversity.

1.68.3

All men are joyful in thy power, O God, that living from the dry wood thou art born.

Then all rejoiced in thy wisdom, O God, when living thou wast born from the dry wood.

Jivo janishtah from shushkat—living birth from apparent dead matter—is Agni's perpetual miracle and metaphor for cit awakening in inert experience. The Devas rejoice in that kratu (wisdom-will).

Creativity and recovery often spark from 'dry' conditions—constraints that kindle living insight.

1.68.4

All truly share thy Godhead while they keep, in their accustomed ways, eternal Law.

All share in divinity and the name of immortality while serving Rita in their proper ways.

Bhajanta visve devatvam…amrtam while sapanto rtam: participation in divine nature through Rita-aligned living—not arbitrary election. Immortality here is amrita of order-keeping consciousness.

Dignity and lasting meaning come from practices that serve truth and mutual flourishing, not from titles alone.

1.68.5

Strong is the thought of Law, the Law's behest; all works have they performed; he quickens all.

Instigation of Rita, thought of Rita: all have performed the works of the all-lived one.

Rtasya presa and rtasya dhiti—Rita's impulse and Rita's contemplation—drive sacred action. Vishvayu Agni quickens every apas (work) so that human kratu mirrors cosmic Law.

Let principle initiate and refine your projects—motive and method both under one ethical 'Rita.'

1.68.6

Whoso will bring oblation, gifts to thee, to him, bethinking thee, vouchsafe thou wealth.

On him who offers to thee or trains himself for thee, O knowing one, bestow wealth thoughtfully.

Dasha and shiksha—giving and disciplined learning—both qualify for Agni's rayi. Cikitvan (the wise flame) dayate with discernment: grace answers sincerity of offering and sadhana.

Combine generosity with skill-building; informed systems reward those who contribute and those who practice.

1.68.7

Seated as Priest with Manu's progeny, of all these treasures he alone is Lord.

Seated as Hotar among Manu's offspring, he alone is truly lord of these riches.

Hotar among Manor apatye places Agni at the center of human lineage and yajna. As pati rayinam he governs true wealth—the sacred economy of the human–divine exchange.

Steward resources from a seat of service; authority over 'riches' is trustworthy when it serves the people.

1.68.8

Men yearn for children to prolong their line, and are not disappointed in their hope.

They longed for the seed together in their bodies; the wise, by their own powers, understood one another.

Icchanta retah…sam janata: the Devas' concordant yearning for Agni-seed (the hidden fire) and mutual recognition through daksha. Mystic search for the garbha of light ends in shared knowing.

Aligned teams share a generative aim and recognize each other's strengths—collaboration as shared 'seed.'

1.68.9

Eagerly they who hear his word fulfil his wish as sons obey their sire's behest.

Like sons delighting in a father's will, the swift ones who heard his command took pleasure in his purpose.

Pitur na putrah kratum jushanta—filial joy in the father's kratu—frames Agni-bhakti as intimate obedience of love, not fear. Those who shrausan (truly hear) become tura (swift) in sacred response.

Healthy authority invites willing participation. Listen deeply; act swiftly from shared purpose.

1.68.10

He, rich in food, unbars his wealth like doors: he, the House-Friend, hath decked heaven's vault with stars.

Rich in food, he opened the doors of wealth; the house-friend adorned the vault of heaven with stars.

Damuna Agni—house-friend—opens rayah doors and pipeṣa nakam strbhih: domestic fire and cosmic decoration are one. The hearth that feeds also mirrors the starry Rita above.

A well-tended 'home base' unlocks opportunity and keeps wonder alive—practical care and cosmic perspective together.
