VICTORIOUS in the wood, Friend among men, ever he claims obedience as a King. Gracious like peace, blessing like mental power, Priest was he, offering-bearer, full of thought.
Victorious in the woods, friend among mortals, he claims obedience like a king; gracious like peace, blessing like wise resolve—may he be thoughtful Hotar, bearer of the offering.
Agni as mitra among martyas and jayu in vaneshu unites forest-fire and social friend. As Hotar havyavat full of svadhi (deep thought), he is the conscious priest within—peace (kshema) and kratu (sacred will) embodied as one living flame.
Lead with friendly authority: clarity that people willingly follow, paired with peaceable intention. Let thoughtful action—not noise—carry your 'offerings' into the world.

He, bearing in his hand all manly might, crouched in the cavern, struck the Gods with fear. Men filled with understanding find him there, when they have sting prayers formed within their heart.
Holding all manly powers in hand, he made the Gods tremble while crouching in the secret cave; thoughtful people find him there when they chant mantras shaped within the heart.
Guha nishidan—Agni seated in the cave—is classic Upanishadic seed: the antaryamin found not by outer search alone but by hrda tashtan mantran (mantras carved in the heart). Even Devas stand in awe of the power concentrated in that hidden seat.
Inner work precedes outer power. Form clear intentions 'in the heart' before expecting breakthrough; the deepest capacity often waits in stillness, not display.

He, like the Unborn, holds the broad earth up; and with effective utterance fixed the sky. O Agni, guard the spots which cattle love: thou, life of all, hast gone from lair to lair.
Like the Unborn he upholds the earth; with true mantras he fixed the sky. O Agni, guard the dear stations of the cattle; life of all, you have gone from hiding-place to hiding-place.
Aja supporting prithivi and stambha of dyaus by satya mantra shows Agni as cosmic pillar. Guha-guham gah—moving lair to lair—is the mystic fire in plant, animal, and heart; protecting pashu-pada is protecting the living wealth of Rita's ecology.
Steward habitats and livelihoods ('stations of cattle') as sacred. True strength upholds systems—earth, sky, community—rather than extracting from them.

Whoso hath known him dwelling in his lair, and hath approached the stream of holy Law,— They who release him, paying sacred rites,—truly to such doth he announce great wealth.
Whoever has known him dwelling in the secret place and has approached the stream of Rita—those who release him while serving the Law—to such he truly declares great wealth.
Knowing guha-bhavantam and approaching dhara rtasya is jnana joined to Rita-seva. 'Releasing' Agni (kindling, liberating the hidden flame) while sapanta rtam yields vasuni—not mere gold but the riches of alignment with cosmic order.
Insight plus ethical practice unlocks real prosperity. Spot hidden potential, align with sound principles, then 'kindle' it—wealth follows integrity.

He who grows mightily in herbs, within each fruitful mother and each babe she bears, Wise, life of all men, in the waters’ home,—for him have sages built as ’twere a seat.
He who grows mightily within the plants, within offspring and within sprouting mothers; wisdom in the waters' home, life of all—sages have built him a seat as it were.
The hymn's mystic climax: Agni mahitva in virutsu (herbs), praja, and prasu—indwelling plant-fire, fetal fire, maternal fire—and citti apam dame (awareness in the waters' abode). Vishvayu Agni is Jatavedas as life itself; dhira craft his seat in meditation and yajna.
Recognize vitality as systemic—ecology, pregnancy, hydration, attention. Build daily 'seats' (rituals, labs, gardens, clinics) that honor life-fire wherever it grows.
