BEAUTIFUL Vāyu, come, for thee these Soma drops have been prepared: Drink of them, hearken to our call.
O radiant and wondrous Vayu, come! These pure essences of life (Soma) are prepared for you. Drink of them and listen graciously to our invocation.
Vayu is the cosmic and physiological vital breath (Prana), the earliest manifestation of vitality in creation. The Soma juice symbolizes the purified, distilled delight of conscious experience (Ananda). In Vedic metaphysics, Prana is the first divine principle invited to receive the offering, because without the vital life-current circulating through the subtle channels (Nadis), higher spiritual cognition cannot awaken.
Highlights the foundational role of breathwork and physiological vitality. Before embarking on demanding cognitive or creative endeavors, we must regulate our breath (Pranayama), clear our lungs, and calm our nervous systems. Honoring the breath is the first step toward reducing stress and achieving grounded presence.

Knowing the days, with Soma juice poured forth, the singers glorify Thee, Vāyu, with their hymns of praise.
O Vayu, the dedicated seekers who understand the rhythm of days and seasons, having pressed the sacred Soma, sing your praise through inspired hymns.
Refers to the seers as 'Aharvida'—those who know the secrets of cyclic time, the solar transitions, and the internal biorhythms. By synchronizing speech (Uktha), conscious breath (Vayu), and purified emotion (Soma), the seeker harmonizes their microcosmic life with the macrocosmic flow of Time (Kala).
Living in alignment with natural circadian rhythms and seasonal cycles. Modern society often detaches from daylight, leading to exhaustion and disrupted sleep cycles. This verse encourages us to tune into daily and seasonal rhythms, honoring rest, activity, and natural pacing in our schedules.

वायो॒ तव॑ प्रपृञ्च॒ती धेना॑ जिगाति दा॒शुषे॑ |
उ॒रू॒ची सोम॑पीतये ||
Vāyu, thy penetrating stream goes forth unto the worshipper, Far-spreading for the Soma draught.
O Vayu, your wide-reaching, nourishing voice moves toward the generous giver, expanding far to partake of the offered Soma.
The term 'Dhena' signifies the nourishing speech or the cosmic flow of divine benediction that acts like a celestial cow nourishing the seeker. When one gives generously without clinging ('Dashushe'), the cosmic life-current expands their capacity to experience profound spiritual vitality and inner peace.
The psychology of generous reciprocity. When an individual communicates and acts with openness and generosity rather than transactional scarcity, opportunities, creative insights, and supportive networks naturally expand around them.

इन्द्र॑वायू इ॒मे सु॒ता उप॒ प्रयो॑भि॒रा ग॑तम् |
इन्द॑वो वामु॒शन्ति॒ हि ||
These, Indra-Vāyu, have been shed; come for our offered dainties’ sake: The drops are yearning for you both.
O Indra and Vayu, these sacred essences have been prepared. Come together to receive these nourishing offerings; indeed, our distilled thoughts and drops yearn for your united presence.
Indra represents enlightened conscious mind, intuition, and sovereign will; Vayu represents the dynamic vital energy (Prana). In Yogic and Vedic philosophy, mind and breath are inextricably linked: when breath moves, the mind moves; when breath is calm, the mind is steady. Here they are invoked as a twin principle ('Indra-Vayu') because true spiritual mastery requires both clear intellect and vital force.
The crucial synergy between vision and execution. Intellect and strategy (Indra) without energy and stamina (Vayu) produce sterile plans; vitality without intellect leads to chaotic exhaustion. Sustainable high performance requires aligning clear thinking with physical energy.

तावा या॑त॒मुप॑ द्र॒वत् ||
Well do ye mark libations, ye Vāyu and Indra, rich in spoil! So come ye swiftly hitherward.
O Vayu and Indra, rich in energetic power, you perceive our pressed offerings with keen discernment. Come swiftly to our side.
Describes the deities as 'Vajinivasu' (possessing the wealth of dynamic spiritual force) and 'Chetathah' (conscious, keenly perceptive). Higher consciousness and vital prana do not remain oblivious to the genuine efforts of the seeker; they respond promptly to sincere inner purification and self-discipline.
Cultivating acute situational awareness. To succeed in modern challenges, one must combine energetic agility with sharp discernment, reading emerging patterns accurately and responding decisively without hesitation.

वाय॒विन्द्र॑श्च सुन्व॒त आ या॑त॒मुप॑ निष्कृ॒तम् |
म॒क्ष्वि१त्था धि॒या न॑रा ||
Vāyu and Indra, come to what the Soma-presser hath prepared: Soon, Heroes, thus I make my prayer.
O heroic leaders, Indra and Vayu, arrive swiftly at the prepared sanctuary of the one who presses the life-essence, guided by sincere meditation.
Calls them 'Nara' (heroic leaders/divine movers) who approach the 'Nishkritam'—the appointed, purified sacred space. When the seeker's mind ('Dhiya') prepares an unblemished mental altar, the divine forces readily establish their dwelling there.
The power of a prepared environment. Whether for deep cognitive work, artistic creation, or meditation, establishing a dedicated, uncluttered workspace dramatically accelerates focus, flow states, and productive outcomes.

मि॒त्रं हु॑वे पू॒तद॑क्षं॒ वरु॑णं च रि॒शाद॑सम् |
धियं॑ घृ॒ताचीं॒ साध॑न्ता ||
Mitra, of holy strength, I call, and foe-destroying Varuṇa, Who make the oil-fed rite complete.
I invoke Mitra of purified discernment and Varuna, the repeller of falsehood and malice, who together perfect our luminous intellect and sincere devotion.
Mitra represents universal friendship, harmony, luminous solar balance, and benevolence ('Putadaksham'—pure in discernment). Varuna represents the vast cosmic conscience, moral order (Ritam), justice, and the destroyer of internal impediments ('Rishadasam'). Together, they guide the seeker's intellect ('Dhiyam Ghritachim'—an intellect luminous like clarified butter) into alignment with truth.
Combining empathy with unyielding integrity. Mitra provides compassionate, collaborative interpersonal warmth, while Varuna provides firm accountability, boundaries, and adherence to objective truth. Modern leadership requires both: warmth without accountability leads to laxity, while discipline without empathy breeds resentment.

ऋ॒तेन॑ मित्रावरुणावृतावृधावृतस्पृशा |
क्रतुं॑ बृ॒हन्त॑माशाथे ||
Mitra and Varuṇa, through Law, lovers and cherishers of Law, Have ye obtained your might power
O Mitra and Varuna, born of cosmic order, nourishers of divine truth, and touches of the eternal law, you attain to vast, sublime power through Ritam.
A magnificent triple affirmation of Ritam: 'Ritena' (through cosmic truth), 'Ritavridhau' (growing in and nurturing truth), and 'Ritasprisha' (touching and dwelling within truth). In Vedic thought, authentic power and vast majesty ('Kratum Brihantam') are never attained through deceit or tyranny, but strictly by harmonizing with the universal moral and cosmic fabric.
Long-term success rooted in institutional and personal integrity. Cutting ethical corners may produce fleeting gains, but enduring influence, credibility, and authority ('Brihantam Kratum') are earned only by consistently honoring commitments, objective facts, and universal human dignity.

क॒वी नो॑ मि॒त्रावरु॑णा तुविजा॒ता उ॑रु॒क्षया॑ |
दक्षं॑ दधाते अ॒पस॑म् ||
Our Sages, Mitra-Varuṇa, wide dominion, strong by birth, Vouchsafe us strength that worketh well.
Mitra and Varuna, seers endowed with immense wisdom, born with manifold powers, and dwelling in vast horizons, bestow upon us purposeful capacity that accomplishes noble work.
Celebrates Mitra and Varuna as 'Kavi' (poet-seers of cosmic truth) and 'Urukshaya' (dwellers in boundless realms of consciousness). They confer 'Daksha' (practical skill, moral acumen) that produces noble, dedicated action ('Apas'). True spiritual wisdom does not withdraw into passivity; it translates into effective, righteous service in the world.
Excellence in purposeful craftsmanship and ethical professionalism. High ideals must be matched with competence and diligent execution ('Apas'). Wisdom should manifest as practical effectiveness, enabling us to solve real-world problems and enrich our communities.
