Rhythms of Nourishment

Aligning your daily meals with circadian Agni. In classical Ayurveda, when you eat is as important as what you eat— digestive fire mirrors the sun’s arc across the sky.

Aligning meals with this natural cycle (Dinacharya) helps prevent Ama, stabilizes energy, and supports effortless digestion.

01

The Daily Agni Cycle

Agni rises gently in the morning, peaks at high noon, and softens to an ember by sunset. Tap a window to explore its Dosha quality and meal intent.

Midday Pitta Agni digests complex proteins, heavier grains, and your largest meal with ease.

02

Morning Prana Awakening

Between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, Kapha energy is cool, heavy, and slow. Cold iced smoothies, pastries, or dense cheese dishes smother newly awakening Agni—like wet leaves on a small flame.

Goal: Gently kindle Agni, hydrate tissues (Dhatus), clear overnight waste.
Ideal timing: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM (after elimination and self-care).
Framework: Warm, cooked, lightly spiced, easy to break down.

Warm grain base

  • Steel-cut oats
  • Stewed apples
  • Roasted ragi

Gentle Agni spice

  • Cinnamon
  • Green cardamom
  • Fresh ginger

Sattvik sweetener

  • Raw honey (never heated)
  • Soaked dates
  • Jaggery (Gud)

03

The High-Noon Feast

Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, peak Pitta energy meets peak digestive fire. This is the window for complex proteins, heavier grains, and your day’s largest portion.

Goal: Core structural nourishment for energy, tissue rebuilding, and mental stamina.
Ideal timing: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.
Framework: A complete Shad Rasa (six tastes) meal around Ghee, Grains, and Greens.
40% Whole grains
30% Protein / lentils
20% Seasonal vegetables
10% Fat & condiment

Aged Basmati, quinoa, or whole-wheat roti—steady complex carbohydrates for the midday feast.

Portion Category Examples
40% Whole grains Aged Basmati, quinoa, whole-wheat roti
30% Protein / lentils Yellow mung dal, green gram, chickpeas, pan-seared paneer
20% Seasonal vegetables Zucchini, amaranth greens, steamed pumpkin, carrots
10% Healthy fat & condiment A2 ghee, coriander-mint chutney, fresh buttermilk (Takra)

04

Twilight Evening Bowls

Between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, Vata/Kapha rises as solar energy fades. Heavy late meals divert blood from cellular repair and brain detox toward the stomach.

Goal: Nourish without overburdening sleep—warm, liquid-rich, grounding.
Ideal timing: 2–3 hours before bed (ideally 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM).
Framework: Soups, stewed vegetables, or classic one-pot kitchari.

Evening dinner rules

  1. Eat before sunset—or by 7:00 PM
  2. Prioritize soups, lentil stews & kitchari
  3. Avoid raw salads, raw onions, cold foods & heavy meat
  4. Stop at three-quarters full—leave space for air and digestion

05
