Goddess Sati's necklace fell atop Trikuta Hill in Maihar (derived from 'Mai-ka-Har', meaning 'Necklace of Mother'). It is widely believed that the legendary immortal Bundelkhand warriors Alha and Udal were granted boons by Goddess Sharada, and Alha still visits the hilltop shrine during Brahma Muhurta to perform the day's first Puja.
