1.70.1

MAY we, the pious, win much food by prayer, may Agni with fair light pervade each act,—

May we, devoted, win abundant food by inspired thought; may Agni of fair flame pervade all acts.

Vanema…manisha: prosperity sought through contemplative intelligence, while sushoka Agni pervades vishvani—every karma lit by conscious fire. Piety here is luminous thoroughness.

Infuse whole workflows with clear intention—not only the 'spiritual' moments—so quality spreads.

1.70.2

He the observer of the heavenly laws of Gods, and of the race of mortal man.

He who knows the divine ordinances and the birth of the human race.

Cikitvan of daivyani vrata and manushasya janma: Agni as witness of both divine law and human origin—Jatavedas who remembers how beings come forth into Rita.

Wisdom joins ethics with anthropology—know rules and know how people actually begin and grow.

1.70.3

He who is germ of waters, germ of woods, germ of all things that move not and that move,—

He who is the germ of the waters, germ of the forests, germ of all that stands and all that moves.

Garbho yo apam, garbho vananam, garbhash ca statam garbhash caratham—the hymn's mystic heart. Agni as Apam Napat and plant-embryo fire: indwelling seed of every element and locomotion, Sanatana vision of one cit-shakti latent in nature.

See energy as embedded in ecosystems—water cycles, forests, infrastructure, and mobility—not as an external commodity only.

1.70.4

To him even in the rock and in the house: Immortal One, he cares for all mankind.

Even in the rock, even within the house: immortal, thoughtful, caring for all the clans.

Adrau…antardurone: Agni in stone (spark-potential) and in the home—amrta svadhih. Immortality is not escape from matter but wise presence inside rock and room, protecting the vishah.

Potential hides in hard places; care shows in domestic detail. Be present in both 'rock' and 'room.'

1.70.5

Agni is Lord of riches for the man who serves him readily with sacred songs.

For Agni is earth-guarding lord of riches to the one who serves him fitly with good hymns.

Kshapavan rayinam: Agni as guardian-lord of wealth for the dashat who offers aram suktiah—right measure of beautiful speech. Rayi follows apt stotra and seva.

Precision of communication and service attracts resources—craft your asks and thanks well.

1.70.6

Protect these beings thou with careful thought, knowing the races both of Gods and men.

Protect these beings, O wise one, knowing the births of gods and of mortals.

Bhuma ni pahi…janma vidvan: prayer for ecological and social protection grounded in Agni's knowledge of divine and human genesis—pāvana care across realms.

Policy and care work better when informed by origin stories—how systems and people came to be.

1.70.7

Whom many dawns and nights, unlike, make strong, whom, born in Law, all things that move and stand,—

Whom many unlike nights strengthen, and whom the standing and the moving—Rita-penetrated—increase.

Purvih kshapah virupah and sthata-caratha increase Rita-pravita Agni: time's varied faces and all modes of being feed the Law-born flame. Diversity of experience fortifies the inner fire.

Varied seasons of life can strengthen focus if held within principle—difference as fuel, not fracture.

1.70.8

He hath been won, Herald who sits in light, making effectual all our holy works.

That Hotar seated in the light has been won; he makes all sacred works true and effective.

Aradhi hota svar-nishattah: the successfully worshipped envoy seated in brilliance makes apamsi satya—renders rites and efforts fruitful. Kindled Agni authenticates karma.

Secure the enabling center first; then projects complete. Validity comes from a live core process.

1.70.9

Thou settest value on our cows and woods: all shall bring tribute to us to the light.

Thou hast set excellence upon cows and woods; may all bring tribute toward the light.

Gosu…vaneshu dhise: Agni confers prashasti on cattle and forests—sanctifying livelihood and wilderness together. Bali toward svarnah joins economy to illumination.

Value both productive assets and wild commons; orient contribution toward transparent, life-giving ends.

1.70.10

Men have served thee in many and sundry spots, parting, as ’twere, an aged father's wealth.

Men have served thee in many places, dividing thee as sons divide an aged father's wealth.

Purutra saparyan…pitor na jivreh: Agni distributed grihe-grihe like ancestral inheritance—each household receives its share of the one flame. Parampara of fire across settlements.

Scale a living tradition by rightful distribution, not monopoly—many hearths, one lineage.

1.70.11

Like a brave archer, like one skilled and bold, a fierce avenger, so he shines in fight.

Like a keen archer, skilled and bold, a dread avenger—so he shines amid the contests.

Sadhur na…asteva shuro…tveshah samatsu: Agni as inner warrior-flame in the contests of dharma—precise, brave, purifying. The mystic fight is also the tapas that burns adharma.

In hard contests, aim with skill and courage; let fierce clarity serve protection, not chaos.
