1.43.1

कद् रु॒द्राय॒ प्रचे॑तसे मी॒ह्ळुष्ट॑माय॒ तव्य॑से | वो॒चेम॒ शंत॑मं हृ॒दे ||

WHAT shall we sing to Rudra, strong, most bounteous, excellently wise, That shall be dearest to his heart?

1.43.2

यथा॑ नो॒ अदि॑ति॒: कर॒त् पश्वे॒ नृभ्यो॒ यथा॒ गवे॑ | यथा॑ तो॒काय॑ रु॒द्रिय॑म् ||

That Aditi may grant the grace of Rudra to our folk, our kine, Our cattle and our progeny;

1.43.3

यथा॑ नो मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो॒ यथा॑ रु॒द्रश्चिके॑तति | यथा॒ विश्वे॑ स॒जोष॑सः ||

That Mitra and that Varuṇa, that Rudra may remember us, Yea, all the Gods with one accord.

1.43.4

गा॒थप॑तिं मे॒धप॑तिं रु॒द्रं जला॑षभेषजम् | तच्छं॒योः सु॒म्नमी॑महे ||

To Rudra Lord of sacrifice, of hymns and balmy medicines, We pray for joy and health and strength.

1.43.5

यः शु॒क्र इ॑व॒ सूर्यो॒ हिर॑ण्यमिव॒ रोच॑ते | श्रेष्ठो॑ दे॒वानां॒ वसु॑: ||

He shines in splendour like the Sun, refulgent as bright gold is he, The good, the best among the Gods.

1.43.6

शं न॑: कर॒त्यर्व॑ते सु॒गं मे॒षाय॑ मे॒ष्ये॑ | नृभ्यो॒ नारि॑भ्यो॒ गवे॑ ||

May he grant health into our steeds, wellbeing to our rams and ewes, To men, to women, and to kine.

अ॒स्मे सो॑म॒ श्रिय॒मधि॒ नि धे॑हि श॒तस्य॑ नृ॒णाम् | महि॒ श्रव॑स्तुविनृ॒म्णम् ||

O Soma, set thou upon us the glory of a hundred men, The great renown of mighty chiefs.

1.43.8

मा न॑: सोमपरि॒बाधो॒ मारा॑तयो जुहुरन्त | आ न॑ इन्दो॒ वाजे॑ भज ||

Let not malignities, nor those who trouble Soma, hinder us. Indu, give us a share of strength.

1.43.9

यास्ते॑ प्र॒जा अ॒मृत॑स्य॒ पर॑स्मि॒न्धाम॑न्नृ॒तस्य॑ | मू॒र्धा नाभा॑ सोम वेन आ॒भूष॑न्तीः सोम वेदः ||

Soma! head, central point, love these; Soma! know these as serving thee, Children of thee Immortal, at the highest place of holy law.
