Now will I glorify Food that upholds great strength, By whose invigorating power Trita rent Vṛtra limb from limb.

Now I glorify Food that upholds great strength, by whose invigorating power Trita rent Vṛtra limb from limb.

Pitū/anna as mahā-dharman and taviṣī; Trita's Vṛtra-bheda via food-ūrja. Sanātana insight: nourishment is not base—it is śakti for dharma-victory over obstruction.

Respect fuel as strategic. Adequate nourishment enables people to dismantle long-standing blockages.

1.187.2

O pleasant Food, O Food of meath, thee have we chosen for our own, So be our kind protector thou.

O pleasant Food, Food of meath—we have chosen you; be our kind protector.

Svādu/madhu pitū chosen (vavṛmahe) as avitā. Annam as mitra-rakṣaka—protection through sweetness, not austerity alone.

Consciously choose nourishing pleasure that protects health rather than only restrictive control.

1.187.3

Come hitherward to us, O Food, auspicious with auspicious help, Health-bringing, not unkind, a dear and guileless friend.

Come to us, Food, auspicious with auspicious helps—health-bringing, not hostile, a dear guileless friend.

Śiva ūtī; mayobhu; adviṣeṇya; sakhā advaya—anna personified as non-dual friend. Ahimsā toward the body through kindly food.

Seek fuel that is genuinely friendly to the body—transparent, health-giving, without hidden harm.

1.187.4

These juices which, O Food, are thine throughout the regions are diffused. like winds they have their place in heaven.

These juices of yours, O Food, are spread through the regions like winds stationed in heaven.

Rasāḥ viṣṭhitā across rajas like vāta in dyaus—food-essence as atmospheric ubiquity. Oṣadhi/anna rasa pervades worlds.

Quality nutrients diffuse through every 'region' of life—energy, mood, work—like climate.

1.187.5

These gifts of thine, O Food, O Food most sweet to taste, These savours of thy juices work like creatures that have mighty necks.

Your gifts, O sweetest Food, and savours of your juices rise like creatures of mighty necks.

Svādiṣṭha dāna and rasa-svādana moving like strong-necked beings—nourishment producing visible vitality and stature.

Good food shows up as strength you can see—posture, stamina, presence—not only lab numbers.

1.187.6

In thee, O Food, is set the spirit of great Gods. Under thy flag brave deeds were done he slew the Dragon with thy help.

In you, O Food, the mind of great gods is set; under your banner brave deeds were done—he slew the Dragon with your help.

Mahatāṃ devānāṃ manas in anna; ketu of food enables ahi-vadha. Reminder that even divine resolve rides on nourishment-śakti.

Peak performance culture must plant intention in real nourishment; heroics fail on empty tanks.

1.187.7

If thou be gone unto the splendour of the clouds, Even from thence, O Food of meath, prepared for our enjoyment, come.

If you have gone to the splendour of the clouds, even from there, O Food of meath prepared for our enjoyment, come.

Anna in megha-śriya—food as rain-cycle. Invitation back to human bhakṣa: cosmic food returning as local meal.

Recall distant resources home. What has 'gone into the clouds' of abstraction should return as usable enjoyment.

1.187.8

Whatever morsel we consume from waters or from plants of earth, O Soma, wax thou fat thereby.

Whatever morsel we consume from waters or from plants of earth—O Soma, grow fat thereby; Vātāpi, grow fat thereby.

Apām oṣadhīnām pariṃśa: explicit waters and herbs. Vātāpi (digestive/body ally) asked to pīva—Ayurvedic seed of anna-to-deha transformation.

Mindful intake from water and plants should build embodied resilience—digestion as sacred partnership.

1.187.9

What Soma, we enjoy from thee in milky food or barley-brew, Vātāpi, grow thou fat thereby.

What we enjoy from you, Soma, in milky food or barley-brew—Vātāpi, grow fat thereby.

Go-āśira and yava-āśira Soma: dairy-grain sacred drinks. Again Vātāpi puṣṭi—food hymn as embodied sādhana.

Honor traditional whole-food combinations (grain, milk, ferment) that reliably build strength.

1.187.10

O Vegetable, Cake of meal, he wholesome, firm, and strengthening: Vātāpi, grow thou fat thereby.

O Vegetable, meal-cake—be wholesome, firm, and strengthening; Vātāpi, grow fat thereby.

Oṣadhe! Karambha as pīva, vṛka, udārathi—plant and cake as medicine-food. Oṣadhi explicitly praised: herb/plant as deity-face of anna.

Treat vegetables and simple cakes as allies of firm health—not afterthoughts to 'real' food.

1.187.11

O Food, from thee as such have we drawn forth with lauds, like cows, our sacrificial gifts, From thee who banquetest with Gods, from thee who banquetest with us.

From you, O Food, we have drawn sacrificial gifts with words as cows; from you who banquet with gods and with us alike.

Vacas like cows extracting havyā from pitū; sadhamāda with devas and asmabhyam—food as shared table of gods and humans. Yajña and nutrition united.

Good nourishment funds generosity. Share tables that link higher purpose and ordinary human fellowship.
